Why the Patriots won't win the Super Bowl with Cam Newton

Tuesday, June 30

Good morning! Today is Tuesday, June 30 and I'm Tim G. First things first: Happy Birthday, Micheal Phelps! Beyond that, we look at nine reasons the Patriots can't win the Super Bowl with Cam Newton, an MLB player that opted out of the 2020 season and talked about race within the sport in his announcement and an NBA team that is working to make its arena a polling place for votersScroll down to see the day's biggest sports headlines, but first:

We asked why you fell in love with sports. These are those stories.

Today's memory is from reader Mary Koboldt of St. Louis, Mo.:

It was during the 1972 summer Olympics. I watched Caitlyn Jenner, formerly known as Bruce, win the decathlon. I loved the red, white and blue and watching him run around with our flag.

I remember running outside in my backyard with a small US flag playing make-believe that I had just won. I told myself that I would go to the Olympics - I didn't know in what sport - but I would go and represent my country.

I did.

(Mary Koboldt represented the United States in field hockey in the 1988 Summer Olympics.)
