Flu already widespread in 36 states, CDC reports

  Twenty-one of those states have a high number of cases. Cold weather and a potentially less effective flu vaccine could be contributing to the early spike, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said. Normally, peak flu activity in the U.S. occurs around February.
