Democrat Doug Jones officially certified winner of Alabama special Senate election despite Roy Moore’s lawsuit

  Alabama formally pronounced Jones the winner of the hotly contested race on Thursday, despite Republican challenger Roy Moore's refusal to concede and his last-minute legal complaint alleging potential voter fraud. Moore's court filing also asked for a temporary restraining order to stop the official certification. Jones, who won in the deep-red state by about 20,000 votes, is expected to be sworn in early next year when the Senate returns.
