Happy Saturday, For the Record peeps! Count it: Two days until the Iowa caucuses. Two days until dreams come true or are crushed. Two days until some candidates get a reality check. Two days until some of them decide they don't care, they're going to hold on until Super Tuesday.

Two days.

But before we go forward, we should take a look back. At least at the past week. Onward.

TRUMP TRUMPS

Leave it to the Donald to generate the most political talk by not doing something. He announced Tuesday that he wouldn't play with the other Republicans running for president at Thursday's #GOPDebate. Why? Two words: Megyn Kelly, the moderator that he clashed with during that first debate oh so long ago. His fellow candidates poked at him and Bill O'Reilly begged him to just do the debate for the good of America. But the Donald stuck to his guns and went forward with his own event to benefit veterans . So, is this The Thing that will derail the Trump campaign? We won't venture a guess, but remember this 2016 rule: what would mean doom for other candidates never seems to mean doom for the Donald.

THE SHOW MUST GO ON

Even without the main GOP act physically present, the remaining candidates still duked it out Thursday night in Iowa. Our favorite moments: When Marco Rubio forgot that Sweden doesn't have a president. When Chris Wallace shut Ted Cruz down. When Ben Carson spoke. BTW, we now believe in magic, because not only did Jim Gilmore reappear out of nowhere, but Netflix announced that it's bringing "Gilmore Girls." If that isn't a week of #Gilmentum, we don't know what is.

WE STILL CARE ABOUT CLINTON'S DAMN EMAILS

Sorry, Bernie, but it's true. While the gentleman from Vermont wants the world (read: the GOP candidates) not to politicize fellow Democrat Hillary Clinton's private server emails from her time as secretary of State, you can expect no one to adhere to that. That's especially true after news broke Friday that the federal government won't release 37 pages of Clinton's emails because they contain top secret information . A reminder: Clinton has long maintained that she never received or sent messages with classified info from her private email server. So of course her GOP rivals pounced the minute they heard it. We wouldn't expect anything else.

TIME TO SAY GOODBYE

To USA TODAY's GOP Power Rankings, that is. Why? Because voting is finally starting, which means we don't have to ask experts what's happening. We can just, you know, look at how people are voting. It's quite the concept. What do you need to know in this final week? Trump has staying power. Social media matters. But most importantly: We cannot predict the future. Which leads us to...

IOWA, HERE WE COME!

Well, not us personally. We'll be watching the results from our cozy offices in other parts of the country. But many of our cohorts from USA TODAY and the Des Moines Register will be there, so be sure to check out their coverage as the wild night of political frivolity unravels. And then see what we have to say about it all the next morning.

We leave you with this: Per the fortune cookie gods, it's all going to work out for Rand Paul.

#dontstopbelievin,

JessicaJoanna and Brett
